Potty Training FAQ

How do I know if my child is ready for potty training?
Readiness may include staying dry for short periods, showing awareness of wet or dirty diapers, following simple directions, or showing interest in the bathroom. Your child does not need all signs to begin—ABA can help build readiness skills.
What if my child has accidents?
Accidents are a normal part of learning. We teach parents how to respond calmly, reduce attention to accidents, and reinforce successful attempts so progress continues without frustration.
How long does potty training take?
Every child is different. Some children make progress in weeks, while others need more time due to communication, sensory, or medical factors. Our BCBAs use data to monitor progress and adjust the plan as needed.
Can potty training work for non-verbal children?
Yes. We incorporate visual supports, schedules, and communication strategies such as PECS or AAC to help children request the bathroom and participate successfully.
Will parents be trained?
Yes. Parent coaching is a key part of our potty training program. Parents are taught how to follow the plan, respond to accidents, and promote independence across home and community settings.
